Company: Shipbuilding and repair company based in Dubai, UAE. Company offers services such as ship repair, conversion, new building, offshore construction, and engineering. It has a large workforce and are known for their expertise in the maritime industry.

JOB OBJECTIVES (SUMMARY OF OVERALL JOB PURPOSE)

Supervise all related rigging work requirements onboard and onshore in line with department work instruction. Follow up with subordinates to ensure compliance of productivity, safety & quality requirement.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Policies, Processes & Procedures:

  • Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
  • Follow and comply to information Security Rules and data security measures in order to protect the company information / intellectual properties.

Day- to-day operations:

  • Ensure that the equipment / gears in use are validated and with current color coded
  • Proactive co-ordination with the requestor for all rigging needs.
  • Liaise with other discipline foremen / supervision to ensure the optimum utilization of available resources, with the overall objective of successful completion of the project.
  • Distribute the riggers according to their experience and monitor the performances.
  • Attend training related to your task as required by department
  • Preparing turn over for next shift including progress report.
  • Pro-active participation in identifying process errors and effective reporting through the NCIR system
  • Working as a team leader responsible for On-the-Job Training and performance appraisals of the other team members.
  • Coordinate with Supervisors, Sr. Foremen. Ship Repair Managers and other trades supervisory staff as well as internally in the dept with work preparation, fabrication and material control.
  • Motivate the team for optimum performance, monitor the performance, and provide continuous appraisal of all subordinates.
  • Exercise discipline at the work site to prevent absenteeism, unsafe work practices and idleness.
  • Create progress reports on a daily basis and ensure that any significant information is communicated to the supervisor i.e. resource shortfalls, surplus, HSEQ concerns.
  • Assist senior foreman and supervisors in planning of rigging activities.
  • Ensure that the workers are supplied with relevant machineries, tools, equipment and materials and everything is in proper order and state of maintenance.
  • Perform inspections to ensure that the workers performance is up to the set standards.
  • Follow the day-to-day operations related to own job to ensure continuity of work.

Safety, Quality & Environment:

  • Comply with all relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls to ensure a healthy and safe work environment
  • Follow and comply to information Security Rules and data security measures in order to protect the company information / intellectual properties.

Related Assignments:

  • Perform other related duties or assignments as directed.

KEY COMPETENCIES

Language skills:

  • Good knowledge of English languages.
  • Knowledge of other languages will be an added advantage.
  • Very good knowledge in technical terms and report writing skills.

Technical competencies:

  • Familiar with lifting equipment’s and SWL (safe working load).
  • Able to do simple lifting calculation.
  • Thorough knowledge in various types steel works and steel structures erection/lifting procedure.
  • Knowledge and Experience in ship repair and new building yard.
  • Ability to read, interpret and follow method statements and procedures, specifications, drawings, and other discipline related project and engineering documentation.

Benefits and other criteria:

  • Salary – 2100 AED
  • Overtime – As per UAE labor law.

  • Probationary period – 6 Months
  • Working Hours – 8 Hours per day (174 hours per month)
  • Accommodation – Free A/C sharing accommodation.
  • Transport – No transport is involved as Staff Accommodation is opposite to shipping docks.

  • Leave – 22 working days in a year
