Company: Shipbuilding and repair company based in Dubai, UAE. Company offers services such as ship repair, conversion, new building, offshore construction, and engineering. It has a large workforce and are known for their expertise in the maritime industry.

JOB OBJECTIVES (SUMMARY OF OVERALL JOB PURPOSE)

Lead, direct control and administrate skilled workers engaged in steel fabrication activities onboard and workshop.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Policies, Processes & Procedures:

  • Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
  • Follow and comply to information Security Rules and data security measures in order to protect the company information / intellectual properties.

Day- to-day operations:

  • Preplanning of jobs and providing feedback to Foreman Sr. / Supervisor on sequence of job, manpower, equipment requirement.
  • Co-ordination with Project Manager, Inspector, Other trades and withinDept. for smooth execution of job.
  • Ensure effective andproductive use of allocated manpower, consumables and materials thereby achieving allocated time scale to meet the set target.
  • Ensuring all work is performed according to the required standards and within required time.
  • Liaise with other discipline foremen / supervision to ensure the optimum utilization of available resources, with the overall objective of successful completion of the project.
  • Distribute the Platers according to their experience and monitor the performances through regular in process inspections.
  • Perform internal inspections to ensure that the fit ups are of set standards prior to offering for QC / Client inspections.
  • Report work progress, planned start / end dates against Work Order and turnover for next shift as required by the Supervisor.
  • Train, motivate, appraise and provide feedback on training requirement to uplift the skill of subordinates
  • Exercise discipline at the work site to prevent absenteeism, unsafe work practices and idleness.
  • Attend any training for any activity required by the department.
  • Proactive participation in identifying errors Onboard / Work Shop and effective reporting through NCIR system.
  • Follow the day-to-day operations related to own job to ensure continuity of work

  • Comply with all relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls to ensure a healthy and safe work environment
  • Follow and comply to information Security Rules and data security measures in order to protect the company information / intellectual properties.

Related Assignments:

  • Perform other related duties or assignments as directed

KEY COMPETENCIES

Language skills:

  • Good knowledge of English languages.
  • Knowledge of other languages will be an added advantage.
  • Very good knowledge in technical terms and report writing skills.

Technical competencies:

  • Thorough knowledge in various types steel works, steel structures and welding procedure specifications.
  • Knowledge and Experience in ship repair and new building yard.
  • Ability to read, interpret and follow method statements and procedures, specifications, drawings, and other discipline related project and engineering documentation.

Benefits and other criteria:

  • Salary – 2600 AED
  • Overtime – As per UAE labor law.

  • Period of Employment – Unlimited Contract
  • Place of Employment – Dubai, U.A.E
  • Probationary period – 6 Months
  • Working Hours – 8 Hours per day (174 hours per month)
  • Accommodation – Free A/C sharing accommodation.
  • Transport – No transport is involved as Staff Accommodation is opposite to shipping docks.

  • Leavepassage – Economy class ticket once in two years
  • Leave – 22 working days in a year
  • Deploymentticket – will be provided by a company
